Resell a supplier's products: add, hide and price B2B items

Add more of a connected supplier's B2B items to your catalog with Catalog Sync, hide or delete items and categories, and price them with adjustments.

Once you are connected to a supplier, add more of their items from Settings > E-commerce > B2B Catalog: click Add Items, pick the supplier, tick the items on their Catalog Sync page, agree to the terms and click Sync and Resell Catalog. Hide an item by unticking its availability in My B2B Catalog, or hide a whole category. A resold item sells at the supplier's price, your cost, until a price adjustment applies, so set one up as you import or afterwards.

Applies to: resellers with a vertical catalog (B2B) connection. Needs Manage Catalog; price adjustments need Manage Financial Settings.

Before you start

This page is for a supplier you already resell for. The first connection and first import are on Set up a vertical catalog integration (B2B) for resellers. If you don't see B2B Catalog under Settings > E-commerce, B2B isn't turned on for your site; ask your Customer Success Manager.

Add more of a supplier's items

  1. Go to Settings > E-commerce > B2B Catalog (My B2B Catalog). It lists what you resell today, with each item's name, type, origin and status.
  2. Click Add Items. This takes you to B2B Settings, where you select the supplier whose products you want to resell.
  3. The supplier's Catalog Sync page opens with the list of products they allow you to resell (active, B2B enabled, and not exclusive to another company). Items already in your catalog show a checkmark: leave it as it is to keep selling them.
  4. Tick the box on each new item you want. The box has three states: a checkmark imports the item (or reactivates one you deactivated), an empty box on an imported item deactivates it, and a red X deletes it from your catalog.
  5. Click Edit on an item to change its options, including its category: keep the supplier's category, create a new one, or pick one of yours.
  6. To mark the items up as they come in, turn on Generate New Price Adjustments and enter a percent or flat amount as a Surcharge or Discount. One adjustment is created for every checked item on the page, including items already in your catalog that are left checked, and they accumulate with any you made before (the page warns you). Untick items you don't want a new adjustment on. If you leave it off, you're asked to confirm that you're syncing without generating any price adjustments.
  7. Tick the disclaimer and agreement box to accept the B2B terms and conditions, then click Sync and Resell Catalog. A Catalog Sync Update window lists what was added, changed or removed.

Hide or remove items

Hiding does not delete anything; it just takes the item or category out of your catalog.

One item

  1. Go to Settings > E-commerce > B2B Catalog and open the item.
  2. Scroll to the Resell Product Info section (Resell Supply Info or Resell Component Info for those types).
  3. Untick Available for sale and save.

To delete the item instead, use Delete This Item on the same page; an Undo is offered right after. Unticking the item on the supplier's Catalog Sync page deactivates it too, and the red X there deletes it.

A whole category

  1. Go to Settings > E-commerce > Categories and open the category.
  2. Scroll to Category Settings, untick Available In Catalog, and save.

Price resold items

A resold item is priced at the supplier's price to you, so until an adjustment applies you are selling it at cost. The item's Pricing tab in My B2B Catalog tells you so and sends you to create one.

Price adjustments are at Settings > Operations > Price Adjustments; the steps are on Price adjustments. For resold items:

  • Who pays it: all companies, companies with a tag, or one company. That is how you give different customers tiered pricing on the same supplier's products.
  • What it covers: a condition picks the type (Resell Product, Resell Supply or Resell Component) and then one item, every item with a tag, or all B2B products, so you can mark up a group of a supplier's products (or all of them) at once.
  • How much: a percent or a flat amount, as a surcharge or a discount.

The quickest way to get a first markup on everything you import is Generate New Price Adjustments on the Catalog Sync page (above).

Things to know

  • Sold at cost until an adjustment applies. Check the Pricing tab of any item you add by hand.
  • Adjustments from Catalog Sync accumulate. Running the sync again with Generate New Price Adjustments on adds another adjustment to every checked item.
  • Sales tax doesn't carry over. Your resold prices can't follow the supplier's sales tax; set an adjustment that covers the difference.
  • You control only part of a resold item: whether it's available, its sort, export class, tags and categories. Everything else belongs to the supplier and is read-only.
  • Discontinued items switch themselves off. With Auto discontinue on in B2B Settings, an item the supplier withdrew (or couldn't return during an outage) is deactivated; reactivate it in My B2B Catalog if it comes back.
  • Supplier attributes can be used as order level settings: Use a supplier's attributes as order level settings.
