Use a currency other than US dollars

Use a currency other than US dollars: one currency per site, Stripe payments in it, the currency code on invoices, tax outside the US and Canada.

Allmoxy can run your shop in a currency other than US dollars. Each site has one currency, set when the site is created; your prices show with its symbol and online payments are charged in it. Two things need your attention: putting the currency code on your invoices, and taxes if you're outside the US and Canada.

Applies to: every shop outside the US. Financial Settings needs the Manage Financial Settings permission; output pages need Edit the site settings.

One currency per site

Your currency is set on Settings > Admin > Financial (Financial Settings) when your site is created, and it's locked once set. To change it, contact support. Prices across your site show with that currency's symbol.

Take payments in your currency

Stripe, the payment processor Allmoxy uses, accepts and processes payments in many currencies, so you can take payments through Allmoxy. Online payments are charged in your site's currency. See Set up Stripe to take payments online.

Show the currency on invoices and other output pages

Output pages print the amount; they don't say which currency it's in. Add the currency code yourself by editing the page's HTML.

  1. Go to Settings > E-commerce > Output Pages.
  2. Select the output page you want to edit, for example Invoice.
  3. Scroll down to the HTML and add your currency code next to the order total. For example, where the total prints as $1,250.00, add the code so it reads $1,250.00 USD (or CAD, GBP and so on). Plain text you type into the HTML prints exactly as written.
  4. Click Save changes in the right navigation bar.

Do this on every output page your customers see: the invoice, the quote and the order confirmation.

Taxes outside the US and Canada

Allmoxy looks up sales tax automatically only for the US states and Canadian provinces you list in Sales Tax Presence. Anywhere else, you have two choices:

  • A custom tax rate for each customer. Open the company, go to its Financial Settings section and set the custom tax rate. It replaces the looked-up rate on every order from that customer, wherever they ship (0 makes them tax exempt). Needs Manage Financial Settings. See Tax exempt customers and custom tax rates.
  • Work the tax out yourself and type the tax rate on the order before you ask for payment. An employee with Manually Edit Orders can override the rate on an order until it ships.

Things to know

  • One currency for everything. Allmoxy can't price one customer in dollars and another in pesos on the same site.
  • The currency code on an output page is just text. Change it if your currency ever changes.
  • On screen, prices show your currency's symbol. The code you add to output pages is only for the printed and emailed pages.
