A component is a bundle of products from your catalog, with their answers already filled in, that customers order as one item: a base cabinet with its drawer box and hardware, say. Each product inside keeps its own settings and pricing. Build them at Settings > E-Commerce > Components.
Applies to: every shop with its own catalog. You need the Manage Catalog permission.

Build a component
- Go to Settings > E-Commerce > Components and click Add component.
- Enter the Component name and leave Available for sale ticked when it's ready.
- Set Priority Sort (lower first), Default quantity, and tick Allow B2B access if other shops may resell it.
- Under Company Exclusive, leave None for everyone, or choose a company or Use Tags, the same as on a product.
- Add Tags and Images if you want them, and tick its Categories in the sidebar.
- In the contents, use the category selector to add each product, then fill in its answers exactly as a customer would. Rows price live as you go. Add supplies the same way if the bundle includes any.
- Save.
A product you add but leave with no items (every item at zero quantity) is dropped when you save.
What customers see
The component shows in its categories like a product. When a customer adds it, the products inside are added to the order with the answers you set. It's one line for them to pick, not one they build up.
A component is hidden from a customer if the component itself is exclusive to someone else. The products inside aren't re-checked, so a component can include a product the customer couldn't order on its own.
Clone, find orders, discontinue, delete
From the component's sidebar:
- Clone this Component makes a copy to start from.
- Find Customer Orders lists the orders that used this component.
- Delete This Component removes it. To take it out of the catalog without losing it, untick Available for sale instead.
Export on the component list downloads it as a CSV. The list filters by name, Discontinued components, Images, Only B2B-enabled Components and category.
Things to know
- A component is not a part. Parts are what a product is made of; a component is several products sold together. For a product made of pieces, use parts.
- Changing a product changes the bundle. The products inside are the live catalog products, so new pricing or attributes on the product apply inside the component too.
- Measurements convert. If a customer's company uses different units from the attribute, number answers in the component are converted for them.
