Product Attributes: These are the options or selections a customer can make on a product (ie Wood Type, Door Style, Width, Hinge Drilling, etc). Attributes can be designated as Group Attributes or Item Attributes. Item attributes apply to a specific item on the order, whereas group attributes apply to a small gathering of items. For example, I might order 5 doors of the same wood type (group attribute) but each door will have a different width (item attribute).
Product Parts: Parts are the individual pieces that make up a product. Think stiles, rails, panel, hinges, etc. Parts can also be used to calculate aspects of a product, like square footage, supplies needed, lineal foot, minutes of labor per item, etc.
Part Summations: This is an easy way to calculate the total of a part across a group of products. For example, if I want to calculate the total square footage of a group of 25 doors, I would build a Part Summation on my door product.
Proxy Variables: Proxy variables (proxy formulas, proxies, proxy) are formulas that can be written outside of a product and referenced in the product's formula section. These are commonly used for pricing or part calculation formulas that are consistent across your catalog. The benefit of utilizing proxy variables is that once implemented, you can update your formula in one place and impact your entire catalog.
