Order Settings: Auto-verify Orders

You might want orders to be verified automatically. We'll break down what that means and when to use this setting.

Verifying orders is typically a manual review process by the employee, confirming that the product selections, order information (ship date, ship method, etc) are all realistic.

An order in verified status also locks the customer out from the ability to make changes to the order.

There are a couple reasons that you might want to auto-verify orders, meaning that when the customers selects "Submit Order" the order transitions directly to Verified, giving the customer a read-only view.

  1. You want to prevent customers from making changes.
  2. You have confidence that your catalog (therefore, a customer order) does not need manual review. Auto-verifying allows you to eliminate a step.
  3. You set all of your customers to Pay Before Processing, so customers pay to submit the order and you do not want order changes after a payment has been made on the order.

If you chose to auto-verify orders, it's important to note that customers will need to be able to contact you to make order changes.
