Set a customer's default shipping method and addresses
Give each customer company a default shipping method and default billing and shipping addresses so every new order starts with them filled in.
Every customer company in Allmoxy has a default shipping method and can have default billing and shipping addresses, and a new order starts with all three filled in. Customers pick the method when they create their account; you set or change it at Contacts > Companies, open the company, Edit, Default Shipping Method. The addresses are in the same editor: a company can have several addresses of each type, and the one marked Set as Default is the one Allmoxy uses when creating a new order.
Applies to: catalog, itemized and project orders. Employees need permission to edit companies; customers can edit their own company.

Customers choose a default method at sign-up
Your customers can select a Default Shipping Method when they create their account. Both the business and the personal sign-up forms include the picker, and it lists only the methods the customer is allowed to see: active methods whose tag rule doesn't hide them. Sign-up also asks for a billing address, which becomes the company's first default billing address.
Set or change a company's default shipping method
If a customer already created an account, or new shipping methods are available since they signed up, the default can be changed on the company.
- Go to Contacts > Companies and open the customer's company.
- Click Edit.
- In Company Info, pick the Default Shipping Method.
- Save.
New orders for that company start on the new method. Orders already placed keep the method they were placed with. Customers can do the same themselves: they can edit their company settings and select a Default Shipping Method. A customer can edit only their own company.
Save default billing and shipping addresses
To have the billing and shipping addresses populate automatically on new orders, set a default Billing address and a default Shipping address on the company's edit page. Since a company can have multiple addresses of the same type (billing, shipping, office, home and other), you'll want to mark one of each as the default for Allmoxy to use when creating a new order.
- On the company, click Edit and go to the Addresses section.
- Add the address with Create Address if it isn't saved yet. Give it the right type (Billing or Shipping), and enter the full address including the postal code (Canadian postal codes include the space, N5P 4B9).
- Click Set as Default on the address that new orders should use. Only one address of each type can be the default, so setting a new default removes the flag from the previous one.
- Save.
What happens on a new order
A new order starts on the company's default shipping method. If the company has no default, an order an employee creates starts on the default method of the employee's own company, so it pays to set one for every customer. The order's billing and shipping blocks fill in from the company's default addresses; either block can also be filled from any of the company's other saved addresses or typed in, and Same as Billing copies the billing address into shipping. If the method is Will Call, the shipping address is cleared and the customer isn't asked for one. Where the method and addresses appear on the order: Create an order.
Things to know
- The order keeps its own copy of the address. Changing a company's address later doesn't change orders already placed; edit the order if it should go somewhere else.
- No default method means a fallback, not an error. The order still gets a method; it may just not be the one the customer expects.
- A customer can't change shipping on a paid order. Once an order is paid, its products and shipping are locked for the customer; an employee can still change them.
- A customer sees only allowed methods. If their default method is later hidden from them by a tag rule or made inactive, their orders fall back to one of the methods they're allowed; see Set up your shipping methods.
