Make sure your Allmoxy emails are delivered

Who Allmoxy emails come from, how to allowlist the sending domain in Gmail and Outlook, sending from your own domain with SendGrid, and fixing bounces.

Allmoxy sends your trigger emails, invoices and statements from its own sending domain, with your company name as the sender, so most shops never need to set anything up. Ask customers to allowlist that domain if messages land in spam, and if you'd rather send from your own domain, connect your own SendGrid account.

Applies to: every shop. Connecting SendGrid needs the Manage Sendgrid permission (on by default for the Employer role).

Who your emails come from

Every email Allmoxy sends for you goes out from an address on Allmoxy's own sending domain, which ends in @allmoxysecure.com (for example notification@, invoices@ or statements@ that domain). Your company name is the sender name, or a fixed label such as "Invoice Notification" for some system emails.

When a trigger has a From address, that address becomes the Reply-To, so replies come straight to you. A trigger with no From sends replies to the notification address instead, so fill it in.

Allowlist Allmoxy's sending domain

To make sure your emails get through and keep their links and images, ask the people who receive them (and your own team) to allowlist the sending domain in their email provider:

Send from your own domain with SendGrid (optional)

You can white-label the send-from address so emails come from your own domain. To do this, you run your own SendGrid account and connect it to Allmoxy.

  1. Create your own SendGrid account if you don't have one.
  2. In Allmoxy, give the employees who will manage this connection the Manage Sendgrid permission: edit the employee's contact, scroll to User Permissions > Integrations, check Manage Sendgrid and save.
  3. Generate an API key in SendGrid:
    1. Log in to SendGrid.
    2. In the left menu, click Settings, then API Keys.
    3. Click Create API Key at the top right. A new screen appears.
    4. In API Key Name, enter a name for the key. "Allmoxy" is a good choice.
    5. Under API Key Permissions, choose Full Access or Restricted Access. If you restrict it, make sure the key has access to Mail Send.
    6. Click Create & View. SendGrid shows your API key.
    7. Copy the key and keep it somewhere safe. For security, SendGrid never shows the value of an existing key again.
  4. In Allmoxy, go to Settings > Integrations > Messaging.
  5. Enter your domain in Email Domain Name, paste the API key into Key, and click Save.

The Sendgrid card on the Messaging page

Allmoxy checks the key with SendGrid when you save. An invalid key is refused (the domain name still saves). Both fields have to be filled in for your own sending to apply; if either is blank, Allmoxy keeps sending from its own account. To go back to Allmoxy's sending, clear both fields and save.

SendGrid offers a 60-day free trial plan that caps out at 100 emails a day, and that count includes every triggered email. Once the cap is hit, emails from Allmoxy will not send until you upgrade your SendGrid plan.

My emails bounce or go to spam

Work through these in order.

  1. Check whether the email went out. Open the Email Log (Reports > Managerial > Email Logs) and, for a trigger email, the Trigger Call Log. If the log shows the email was sent (or the trigger shows Success) but it never arrived, the problem happened after Allmoxy handed it off: the recipient's spam filter, a bounce, or domain authentication. See Check whether an email was sent (Email Log).
  2. If you send from Allmoxy's domain, ask the recipient to allowlist it (above). If their mail server still bounces or flags it, send support the bounce message and the recipient's address and we'll look into it. Allmoxy doesn't send these emails as your own address, so changing your own domain's email settings (such as an SPF record) doesn't affect them.
  3. If you send from your own SendGrid domain, check your SendGrid account first. Emails that stop sending usually mean you're on a free or restricted plan and have hit its limit; upgrade your SendGrid subscription. Also check SendGrid's own activity feed and domain authentication for your domain.
  4. Supply order emails are the exception. Those are sent from the employee's own email address, so your own email domain's settings can affect them. If one bounces, send the bounce message to support and we'll help you sort it out.

Things to know

  • Your company name is the sender name. Rename your company and the sender name changes with it. See Brand your site.
  • Text messages go out from a shared Allmoxy number, not from your SendGrid account.
  • Some emails always go out, such as password resets and welcome emails. See Emails Allmoxy sends and who gets them.
